Todays reading is from Galatians 1:1-5 (NIV)
Paul, an apostle—sent not from men nor by a man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead— and all the brothers and sisters with me,To the churches in Galatia: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
It was in the heart of God our Father in Heaven to save us all along. Jesus did not change the mind of the Father, or do something unexpected by the Trinity. The plan was of sacrifice, and because of Jesus our hope is secure and the Father's salvation plan finished. One purpose of sacrifice in the Old Testament was to prepare our hearts and minds to receive the "once and for all" sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and to receive grace, forgiveness, and reconciliation from our loving God. In Christ we are called, like Paul, to share the gospel and introduce the world to their Savior - Jesus!
