For it is in giving that we receive.

These words of St Francis remind Christians of their privileged position and are central to the work of all Christian communities. We are blessed to be located in a most beautiful part of God's creation and to receive so many benefits from our life here. We pray that, through practising the Christian principle of giving, we allow the Holy Spirit to work through us so that our lives together are enriched and our spiritual experience strengthened.

We are hugely grateful to those of you who make regular or one-off donations to our Chaplaincy over the past year.

Today, we are faced with a new set of challenges and we hope that our financial situation will return to a more normal pattern. The sooner that this happens the sooner we can move forward with our vision for work in this Chaplaincy. We are deeply reliant on your generosity and giving as part of your discipleship.

We are particularly grateful if you feel able to make donations (one-off or regular) that will compensate for the loss of ‘plate giving’ and fund-raising events both as a result of Covid, Brexit and the struggles of the last couple of years.
We all long to able to move forward and return the Chaplaincy to where it was and hope that your support will help us do this. In the meantime, we will continue to provide opportunities for various forms of worship, study, prayer and pastoral support. Thank you for your commitment to our lives together in Christ.

If you give in euros and pay enough French tax, joining our scheme will result in reducing the income tax you pay. For example, if you choose to give €10 a month to the Chaplaincy (€120 a year) it will cost you €40,80 a year eventually because your tax bill will be reduced by 66% of your donation (to a limit of 20% of your income). Our Treasurer issues a reçu fiscal at the beginning of each tax year for you to include in your French tax return.

If you give in sterling, you can use the UK gift aid scheme, which may mean the chaplaincy can re-claim tax you’ve paid.

For the purposes of the tax authorities, we need you to complete a pledge form saying how much you plan to give but please be assured that this is not binding. We understand that circumstances change and expect our members to review their planned giving regularly and to increase or decrease their giving accordingly. If you do this, please notify our Treasurer by completing and sending a new form.

Helping the chaplaincy with my time and talents

Giving takes many forms, but all are rooted in the same principle. So that God¹s work may be done, people give generously of their time and of a broad range of skills and talents - professional, creative, and personal. Rotas of readers, intercessors, singers, musicians, lay assistants, sidesmen and women, churchwardens and, by no means least, providers of refreshments ensure that services happen and the workload shared: the degree of commitment ensures that worship is of appropriate quality. Hosts and leaders of home groups; church council members; Sunday School, Junior Church and youth group teams; organisers of special occasions, of bring-and-share meals, hikes, and picnics: all contribute to a varied and immensely enjoyable community life. We give of ourselves and have lots of fun as a result. Please feel free to come and share it.
